September 2003
After the front and north side tank installations were completed in August, John reticulated the back yard. The pipes layed,
will draw water from either the front tank by gravity feed, or from the shed tank, with an electric pump. All tanks have been
connected to gravity feed to the bottom shed tank. A direct pump from the bottom shed to the front tank has also been
installed.
Small sprays were also installed along the south side fence, and around the
road/council land at the back of our property.
To start early propagation of tomatoes, eggplants, capsicums, chilies and other frost tender plants we converted the lizard box
into our propagation rack. In photo 4. After the germination process has started, I remove the seedlings from the heating rack
and place them into either the cloche or leave them inside by the back window/sliding door. This is not the most ideal method
for plant propagation. In the future we hope to build either a green house or a cold frame to start early seedlings off for spring.
We may
still use the rogation heating rack for some seed germination.
