On the north fence I measured, cut and tied bamboo, to be used as a trellis for the sunset runner beans during spring. (photo 1) Planted along the full length of the north
fence were broad beans. Most of the seeds for these broad beans were saved from last seasons crop. There were three plantings of broad beans.
Each new crop was planted roughly 4 weeks after the previous crop. Also along the north fence I planted silver beet, garlic, celery and parsnips.
Some home propagated rosemary cuttings were planted around the apple tree. This is intended to form a rosemary hedge from the edge of the tire pond,
around the rockery on the north side path, and up to the apple tree. The two rhubarb plant that were in the middle bed, on the north side of the lemon tree, were
divided during autumn and replanted in the same position. Extra root stocks were also planted in the permanent bed on the south side of the yard, just in front
of the garden shed. The strawberries that were originally growing beneath the peach tree in the middle bed, were moved into the bed in photo 2, next to the garden shed.
This bed receives a great deal of water run off from the yard, and strawberries in this position were more prolific than the strawberries underneath the peach tree, during last spring.
